Assessment Tutoring Privacy Policy Addendum
Effective Date: April 6, 2026
Welcome to the ABCmouse Tutoring Center (Tutor Center), which provides additional services and features to you through your ABCmouse Assessment Account. You should read our entire ABCmouse Privacy Policy (ABCm Policy) as well as the ABCmouse Terms & Conditions and which in addition to this Tutor Center Privacy Policy (Tutor Privacy Policy), govern your use of the Tutor Center.
This Tutor Privacy Policy describes the additional ways in which we collect and use information as part of the Tutor Center and supplements the ABCm Policy. Capitalized terms not defined in this policy are as defined in the ABCm Policy. To deliver our personal tutoring services, Child Users will be recorded via audio and video. Because this constitutes personally identifiable information under the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), we will need consent from a parent or legal guardian as set forth below.
1. Information We Collect from Users
Child Users
The Tutor Center provides personal online one-on-one tutoring as part of the assessment(s) taken in the Assessment Center. This includes interactive video and audio of both the tutor providing the tutoring session (Tutor) and the Child User(s) attending a tutoring session (Session). Accordingly, personal information of your Child User(s) will be collected in the form of audio and video recordings in each Session. We will also prepare text transcripts of each Session. We will maintain the recordings and transcripts for up to 90 days but will not share these recordings or any data from these recordings with any third parties other than our tutoring service provider(s). During the retention period, we use the recordings for internal purposes only and in compliance with applicable law and this Privacy Policy.
While we maintain Session recordings and related information, your Child User’s Tutor will have access to your Child User’s recorded Sessions, including those conducted with other Tutors, if applicable. The Company will also have access to all the Session recordings and related information. You may also request that recorded Sessions with your Child User be deleted at any time.
During a Session, you, your Child User, and other individuals within close proximity to the Internet Device used by your Child User may be able to hear and see the Tutor and vice versa. Please be careful to avoid having personal or confidential conversations within close proximity to the Internet Device during a Session.
2. How We Use Information
We and our third-party service providers may use the information collected from Adult Users and Child Users as follows:
A. Child User Information
Information collected from Child Users may be used:
- to measure a Child User’s performance during Sessions and to adapt a Child User’s tutoring experience to the Child User’s learning needs over multiple Sessions; and
- to analyze, provide progress reports on, or provide an assessment of a Child User’s performance.
B. Both Adult and Child User Information
Information collected from both Adult and Child Users may be used as follows:
- to allow us to assess and improve the Services, its educational content, and other services we provide;
- to improve our content and the Child User’s experience during Sessions;
- to research, evaluate, and improve the Services’ educational efficacy; and
- to improve our understanding of the Services’ user base.
We also may disclose de-identified and/or aggregated Adult User or Child User information for any other lawful purpose—for example, the distribution of de-identified user records to outside researchers or the distribution of reports containing aggregate user demographic and traffic patterns—provided that no individual Adult User or Child User or any specific end user device can be readily identified.
